not some book for children but real literatures
i've used to read a book like that but forgot what it called and lost it.
from just one book i got to read folklores from few countries
the stories from what i remembered..
lore about a flower in some island, who takes many life, because of how hard for it to be plucked by
story about a man cursed into a lizard for breaking the law
story about a knight who fights a shapeshifting witch?
a child born from a bamboo shoot, i believe this is from japan.
story about a father who feed his daughter to his flesh eating chicken

angela carter's book of fairytales
>lots of localized ones you can find in free domain
kwaidan (jap) (usually translated by lafcadio hearn, he also writes about new orleans and folklore everywhere he travelled)
joseph jacobs did lots of english ones and those are easy to find second hand books of but he also did a lot of other fairytales
calvino collected loads of italian ones. big ass comfy book everyone should buy one
