Newfag to philosophy here
I've read some literature and philosophy before, but nothing in order, and that caused me to not understand some ideas as well as I could. I already know that I should "start with the greeks", but in what order should I read the rest of the philosophers?

Alphabetically of course.

Chronologically, with special attention paid to who is in dialectic with who
This is the only thing you ever need to read.

Obviously you might not want to do it in exactly this order, but giving this a scan will help you figure out how to into a particular thinker that interests you, by reading their influences first
But yeah do start with the greeks
