> "I didn't know anything about Infinite Jest [prior to eating it], other than every chode who came into the bookstore I worked at would buy it and unhinge their jaw to scold me when I said I hadn't read it myself," she told me. "It appears to be a status symbol in the chode community."
are we allowed to talk about this?
>When you realise that this is what DFW was trying to achieve.

>every chode who came into the bookstore I worked at would buy it and unhinge their jaw to scold me when I said I hadn't read it myself
Does this really happen in real life?

No, it's just another persecution fantasy fabricated by women in order to get attention. Never underestimate what a woman is willing to do for attention.
Please stop caring about gossip journalism. This is just on the same level as reading glossy magazines about royalty.

Why would someone that didn't read a book (presumably why they are buying it) scold someone for not reading it?
>chode
>unhinge their jaw
is she 12?
this is what you get for being an opportunist who wants to posture in front of the tv camera. He should've shut up and hid like every other good american novelist and he wouldnt have developed his cobain complex

Mira Gonzales probably spends more time thinking about DFW than the average poster here. Pretty sad to be defined by your resentment

I've never met a single person who unironically seemed to like Infinite Jest in this day and age. It seems like a convenient thing to bash to signal that you're either elite, against the elite, or against the patriarchy. See the latest column against "upper middle class privilege" by the New York Time columnist and cosmopolitan socialite David Brooks, who in his infinite kikery, kvetched about how upper middle class people provide resources to their children, creating barriers for those less fortunate who have to compete with them. Apparently to him, if you don't have the right opinions about Infinite Jest, you aren't allowed to penetrate the domains of the upper middle class. Oy gevalt!

what the fuck, why are you antisemitic?
>>9800724
>he's not an antisemite
you've fallen for the jewish tricks
Reminder that this is the girl who wrote that article
i wonder how this piece was pitched

I'm fine with working class Jews, and I grew up with plenty in my life. I've been to too many seders to count... enough to recite the meanings of the bitter items on the seder plate from memory anyway. They consider themselves as Americans first, Jews second, and I have absolutely no problem with them. But the cosmopolitan liberal and neoconservative factions of elite Jews are some of the most insufferable people you will ever have to encounter and earn every single facet of their stereotypes. I went to a top 5 American university surrounded by them, where the campus is around 20-25% full of upper-class Jews, and my God did they push me from libertarian socialism to extreme conservatism. If it weren't for my childhood experiences, I would have become full-on NatSoc. I'm convinced that it is a cultural thing among a specific subgroup of American Jews to exhibit this cancerous behavior in order to maintain control over key institutions. They ruin it for the rest of the American Jews desu, and I hope that, when the reactionary backlash happens, that people have the common sense to separate the red-blooded Jewish Americans from the cold-blooded quasi-Reptilian freaks.
Bully for them!
