/lit/ doesn't like Realism and Romantism much.
I don't either tbqh.

I've only read his ghost stories. They were just ripoffs of Hawthorne and not as aesthetic. I don't have a strong urge to continue with him soon

The Turn of the Screw rips a pick-a-Hawthorne-ghost-story off, anon?
Good lord, too many here are more interested in palming off their literary prejudices than supplying informed opinions about what they've actually read, and considered.
One can afford to miss James and Leon Edel's masterful biography- as great a literary work of art as Boswell's- in 2017 (as was the case a decade ago) if /lit/ is to be believed, however. Historically even William has fared better than Henry on this board. Go figure.
