Not data mining, just genuinely curious.

Pic is an example of a poll I took on /lgbt/ and /r9k/, turns out most trannys are INFPs.
>>
>>9784458
Have you thought to take up writing or poetry? From all I've read those are the most well suited occupations for most INFPs.

is funny, but i cant understand poetry for shit.

Sit down in a quiet space with just a pencil and a notebook.

Write out your inner feelings, this will help you to deal with them, and learn to accept them.

Use those feelings to fuel you, since you possess an empathy most people (especially INTPs like me) lack.

God bless.

No real psychologist believes in this test. It's absolutely awful at describing, classifying, and predicting personalities. It's pure pseudoscience; the MBTI is a psychology themed horoscope.

INTx here. Literally spend all of my free time trying to type people with this system. MBTI is quite inaccurate so I'm using Socionics at the moment. I was quite uninterested in other people before finding out about cognitive functions, so I'm glad I found out about this.
Also, 16personalities.com isn't that accurate compared to other free tests. http://www.keys2cognition.com and http://similarminds.com/classic_jung.html are better alternatives imo.
>>
I love how this test and other personality tests like it basically only depict positive qualities, with negative ones given a minuscule focus or framed in a way that they're actually desirable.

Should have been genius scientist, instead got bipolar depression and major clinical depression since before high school and fucked up all my future for trying to fix the chemistry of my brain with weed and alcohol . Now I'm just a pilled up looser with no objectives in life and no moral framework, who has to take meds just to be able to get up and fall sleep at a correct hour. Family supports me and tells me that I should go for philosophy or music in college, they seem to see a great potential in me there but I really don't see it, I'm just a talentless fried brain loser. The only way in which I could succes at life would be by somehow hack my brain into perma hypomanic mode.
This fucking sucks, I just want to take a lot of benzos or oxis and die while listening to the ambient sections of Kid A
This test sucks
Whats the point of this fucking thread? How is it /lit/ related?

Surely you're capable of understanding why that question is idiotic
>>
>>9786148
The first track and idioteque are bad imo
The rest of the album has a great inmerassion feel and it flows perfectly
I used to like radiohead a lot as a teen but I don't really like them, but kid a and anmesiac were, imo, a pretty solid mix of rock and electronic music. Yorke's voice became really annoying after those albums
The strings on how to disappear completly are great, you gotta admit that. They remind me of the strings on river man by nick drake
And you just can't deny the production is god level, few other albums get that 3d headspace feel so greatly, every synth has its own quirk and personality
Radiohead are really overrated poo rock music, but those two albums are legit great, at least in my opinion
It feel like Can but less drugged up with more cohesion (can are still a way superior band tho)
What do you mean by tryhard?
>discussing music in /lit/
This always go wrong, will be more careful next time
>>
>>9784691
Noticed that too, I think there is a large gap between people who display these traits but still keep 'normie' values and turbo intj types who either quietly sit in the shadows with disdain for everything or really hit their groove and conquer their specialty in the workplace or in their interest.
>>
>>9786115
Had to add this, lol
I'm been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and I've always felt like I have a really rational, cold and logic personallity and a extreamly emotional, delusional and passionate side, in which I start writing poetry and stuff like that
That could be a reason of why I get those two
Don't know which one is the best one tbqh
I guess I will always have to live feeling like a totally made the wrong decisions towards my direction in life (I guess normal people get the same too)
At the end of this year I gotta choose what to major in, or whatever direction in life I should take, and I guess they will be based in this two sides
Any tips? Should I follow the Homer path or the Aristotle side?

I think most INTJs in the group are pretty autistic. I've talked to some and they're really dumb. This is one of the reasons I don't really believe in MBTI.
On the other hand, if MBTI is somehow accurate, I don't believe I am an INTJ. I've done the test and got INTJ multiple times, but I don't think I fit too much with the INTJ description.

E/I N T P - A
I do not feel as if I am introverted or extroverted. There is a term 'ambiversion' that may suit me. My introversion vs extroversion always comes incredibly close to 50/50. I was going to school for Computer Engineering, but I am now pursuing being a professional musician. I don't know if I have learned to be extroverted, or if these tests are just silly. Every sort of left brain / right brain questionnaire I take, ends up being 50/50 as well. I guess somebody has to be in the middle. Can you not be very creative, as well as very rational/analytical?

-Will bankroll the first libraries on Mars
-Own 99% of daydreams on Earth
-First designer babies will in all likelihood be INFP babies

-Ancient Indian scriptures tell of angels who will descend upon Earth and will think about doing profoundly good works without carrying them out due to lack of motivation
-Responsible for second-most amount of moralfaggotry around the world
-You likely have INFP philosophy inside you right now
-INFPs are in regular communication with the Archangels Michael and Gabriel
-They learned fluent theology in under a week
-IxTJs entrust their Fi reserves with the INFPs.
-INFPs are the most recently evolved personality type in hominids, from the space-time reference point of the base human currently accepted by our society
-In reality, they are timeless beings existing in all points of time and space from the big bang to the end of the universe. We don't know their ultimate plans yet. We hope they're benevolent beings.

Thinking of making a pasta w/ citations that thoroughly refutes the legitimacy of MBTI lads, is it worth wasting my time on?

Also why did OP write MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) but then indicate a different name in parentheses? Oh and Myers and Briggs were both women, hopefully that scares some /pol/acks away from this pseudoscience. Oh and it's based on some of Carl Jung's work, all of which of course, is useless pseudoscience. Hopefully that scares anyone with a functional brain away.

Nah, they are pretty different if you look at cognitive functions. I find that the dichotomies are more confusing than helpful, especially if you have to read a description of your type to get an idea of it (always goes wrong since the descriptions are based on stereotypes and not much else).

Here's a function breakdown. I'll order then from most-least dominant.

ENTJ:
Te - extraverted thinking - concerned with efficient execution of plans
Ni - introverted intuition - insight generator, very personal, oriented towards the future by Te
Se - extroverted sensing - centred on the environment, thrill-seeker, somewhat in opposition to the above two functions
Fi - introverted feeling - creates a consistent value system, does not bend for others' preferences, might be beaten into submission if it gets in the way of Te-Ni's plans.

ENTP:
Ne - extroverted intuition - concerned with ideas, possibilities, connecting apparently different principles.
Ti - introverted thinking - attempts to maintain a logically consistent worldview, reins in Ne to the realm of the possible, good at detecting logical contradictions or tautologies.
Fe - extroverted feeling - people-oriented, needs company, will mute Ne-Ti if those thoughts won't help the social dynamic, though sometimes it can be used in the reverse sense for manipulation.
Si - introverted sensing - past-oriented, catalogues experiences, a bit of an anchor for Ne but it can be neglected and become a source of paranoia/hypochondria.

Well, that's 10 minutes of my life.

Not sure what you think I meant, all I'm saying is that the types aren't specific physically measured traits like eye color or something, there's no genotype for "N" vs. "S", they're just descriptors for patterns of thought and behavior. I'm not saying genetics has no bearing on those patterns, I'm just saying it's not meant to be a strictly scientific measurement.
>>

>>9794677
>It's useful in building a sense of identity and thinking about how you relate to the world
I doubt that very much how does a little four letter code help a person find identity? I'm FAGO btw if you wanted to know
>>
>>9794716
A model of something is meant to model it. MBTI is not a good model but it's still a model. I don't care if tumbrites use it as a horoscope. That is not a justification.
>>
>>9794721
The code just makes it easy to talk about and communicate, the part that helps people find identity is the fact that it encourages self-reflection in people who might otherwise not be inclined to engage in it.

>>9794722
What justification do you think it needs? No model is going to be perfect, it's meant to be relatively simple.
>>
>>9794733
It's one thing to use a simplified model within certain functional limits of approximation. Engineering does that all the time.
But look at this guy:
>>9794635
There is some sort of super developed theory that goes way beyond the basic propositions of the model and is completely arbitrary. That is not "correct within certain functional limits of approximation". It's just mumbo jumbo.
>>
>>9794757
Yeah I know very little about all the supplementary shit, I have no idea where it comes from. I'm just defending the basic test as a convenient heuristic for helping people find their bearings and make sense of things to some extent, I don't think anyone should extrapolate too much from it.
>>
>>9794635
ENTJ:
>Te - extraverted thinking - concerned with efficient execution of plans
I love coming up with and pulling off plans just right

>Ni - introverted intuition - insight generator, very personal, oriented towards the future by Te
Not entirely sure what is meant by 'insight generator', but I'm very future-oriented in terms of my personal investment/outlook

>Se - extroverted sensing - centred on the environment, thrill-seeker, somewhat in opposition to the above two functions
Not a thrill seeker, would need more discussion on 'centred on the environment.

>Fi - introverted feeling - creates a consistent value system, does not bend for others' preferences, might be beaten into submission if it gets in the way of Te-Ni's plans.
I read 'Ego and its Own' and am a real fan of creating your own value system.

ENTP:
>Ne - extroverted intuition - concerned with ideas, possibilities, connecting apparently different principles.
My brain is wired so that I'm always playing with words. For example, when I hear someone say 'diabetes' I think of di, bees and tea/tee and try to turn that into something. I really enjoy discussing 'what ifs' and experimenting.

>Ti - introverted thinking - attempts to maintain a logically consistent worldview, reins in Ne to the realm of the possible, good at detecting logical contradictions or tautologies.
Doesn't everyone try to have a logically consistent worldview? I enjoy logical discussions to the degree that my dayjob is being an analyst.

>Fe - extroverted feeling - people-oriented, needs company, will mute Ne-Ti if those thoughts won't help the social dynamic, though sometimes it can be used in the reverse sense for manipulation.
I need an audience and people to discuss things with. In company I will stay quiet and wait for the right moment. Have sometimes been called particularly manipulative.

>Si - introverted sensing - past-oriented, catalogues experiences, a bit of an anchor for Ne but it can be neglected and become a source of paranoia/hypochondria.
This one is almost startling. I keep records and love history, while also finding my history (as anyone would) to be a barrier at times (almost enough to make one grimace or actively cry out).

I feel that my personality connects with all of these points that you've listed. I think it's possible to embody a little of both simultaneously. Maybe I need to try and take account of which is most dominant. I think these things should be viewed as a spectrum rather than distinct points to anchor yourself to.

Why can't someone embody all of these and more?

There's 10 minutes of mine in exchange for yours.
>>
>>9794800
People use all of those functions, duh. The question is which one you use most.
Also according to this model you are supposed to be bad at Fi or Si because they are the opposite of your "dominant" function.
Also the descriptions of the function given here are just superficial.

>I read 'Ego and its Own' and am a real fan of creating your own value system.
Philosophy is not the same as simply thinking. Fi processes things in relation to itself; someone who uses this function strongly has fairly fixed principles that they simply won't violate. It demands consistency between beliefs and actions.

>Doesn't everyone try to have a logically consistent worldview?
To an extent. But someone who has this function strongly would seek knowledge for its own sake, and build logical systems for their own sakes. Think mathematicians.

>I think these things should be viewed as a spectrum rather than distinct points to anchor yourself to.

Exactly.
>>
>>9794936
A model that is based on evidence is not arbitrary within certain limits of approximation defined by that evidence. What part of this is hard to understand?
There is no reason whatsoever, at least to my knowledge, why the so called "function stack" should work in the way you described it other than somebody's arbitrary preference for symmetry.

I suppose. My only real plans in life right now are building up my financial investments and keeping my career going. Going to university was part of a 4-year plan to get into my current role and doing well at highschool was part of a plan to get into the right uni and the right course etc.

>Philosophy is not the same as simply thinking. Fi processes things in relation to itself; someone who uses this function strongly has fairly fixed principles that they simply won't violate. It demands consistency between beliefs and actions.
I don't violate my principles and I like to think they're fairly ingrained. I try to do what I believe is right.

>To an extent. But someone who has this function strongly would seek knowledge for its own sake, and build logical systems for their own sakes. Think mathematicians.

I'm going to go against the grain of most of the people here in saying that we don't belong to a strict personality type.

The 16 personalities were created to explain us as people, not to define us.

I very regularly move between INTP-INTJ and even ENTJ. Yet I answer all the questions honestly. People have told me that I'm biasing the answers in favor of one or another but that is not the case.

People can and do change, and our surroundings is what changes it.

What these shills don't seem to understand is that we now know more than ever that the brain is malleable beyond recognition. You can become anyone of those personality types if you condition yourself, in a healthy process. The biggest obstacle however is memory. Memories that are ingrained from earlier development such as childhood and adolescence take time to override. People getting excited about a designated trait is equivalent to if I got joyous over being given the color blue for my t-shirt.

I think as a an INTP or an INFP the best thing you can do is act on your logic or feelings. At the same time, when you act, you need to make sure you are doing it with eye to the other side of the thinking/feeling spectrum. If you act purely out of logic, then you'll miss out on true moral action, and if you act purely out of feeling, then you won't be able to set limits or realistic goals. You just have to go for it.
