Is Book of the New Sun aimed at teenagers? I'm enjoying

the only fiction books I've read before are Darren Shan, rate

Read this, don't find it very interesting at all
Can someone explain what the appeal is supposed to be?
Story isn't very interesting, is it just very deep and I'm missing something?

This is how i can tell morons from people with potential. New sun is a summation of modernist lit from proust to borges, a subtle, symbolist masterpiece full of the deepest thoughts on mortality, salvation, redemption, and cutting away the chaff to save the wheat. He even apes proust's sentence style and transforms whoke scenes ( letter from albertine recieved after death, time turns our lies into truth, eating chateleine rather than madeliene, etc). Sublime and deep. Plebs wont get anything.

Missing a ton. Reread the whole thing and think of every sun drenched metaphor and flooding simile both symbolically and on a plot level

It gets better when you finish it.
If you don't like it by book 2 drop it.
