How do you feel about his poetry, lads?
Has he struck gold writing poems in prose or did he destroy poetry by making it obsolete?
>>
>>9772854
never actually read anything by the baud, but he is super cute.
>>
>>9772865
damn you should, the lad was a genius
>>
Haven't read him, but bit using a single technique won't destroy an entire medium no matter what. Linebreaks aren't obsolete, and a great poet utilizing them is at an advantage over the prose stylist.
>>
>>9772854
I want to demolish his boipussy
>>
>>9772854
He's a hack.

>did he destroy poetry by making it obsolete?
Fucking KEK.
>>
>>9773351
Explain to me how he was a hack...

The dude wrote in many different meters aside from prose poetry... He was fluent in latin for fuck's sake.
>>
>>9773361
>He was fluent in latin for fuck's sake.
So was every writer of his age.

>The dude wrote in many different meters
As every writer of his age.

>aside from prose poetry
After Baudelaire this is not a big deal.

He copied every single theme from different writers. He's a hack.
>>
>>9773370
>he copied
Actually, that was Rilke
>>
>>9773378
Explain me le bateau ivre then.
>>
>>9773370
>so was every writer of his age
Jesus Christ... how did they let you out of school believing this?

You've fallen into this ultra niche mindset where if it's not 100% completely and utterly unique then it's cast aside...

>he copied every single them from different writers
Yeah, because there's an immense amount of themes within literature that people can just play around with. It's a given that a work of art borrows heavily from what's been made in the past. Welcome to the canon, asshole.
I don't get what you're trying to prove.
>>
>people in one thread both manage to say dumb shit about Rimbaud and Rilke

Wow... /lit/ sure has fallen prey to the Dunning Kruger shakes.

>not the smartest move a writer/thinker/auteur can make
Plebeian I see
>>
>>9773398
Explain what? An already heavily discussed poem? I took a seminar on Rimbaud like three years ago, so my understanding of him is haphazard. It's a structurally complex poem that is oftentimes analyzed in its totality ignoring the complexity of language and structure and the constraints of symbolism.
>>
>>9773456
Rilke is a hack. Kill yourself, my man.
>>
>>9773471
The guy you're replying to is a fucking idiot. He read a wikipedia article on it, found out Rimbaud alluded to another poem and borrowed a lot of the imagery from it, and this somehow proves that he was a bad writer.

Again, this guy has a very skewed view on what "literature" is. He doesn't know about the perpetual conversation thinkers have over vast amounts of time within the Canon; how the Canon's progress is inherently relied upon by people digging into works already published and using some of that in a new way.
The guy's an overly zealous undergrad who thinks he's hot shit probably.

>found out Rimbaud alluded to another poem and borrowed a lot of the imagery from it
Which one?
>>
Whats that style of painting called? It looks different from other paintings I've seen, its very odd I've no idea how to describe it.
>>

fucking kek

Figuier's 'Ocean World'
Michelet's 'The Sea'
Verne's 'Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea'
Hugo's 'Toilers of the Deep'
Poe's 'Garden Pym' and 'The Descent into the Maelstrom'
Baudelaire's 'Journey'

to name a few
>>
also i want to fuck his boipussy
>>
>>9773550
In what way was any of those works "copied"?
>>
>>9772994
t. Bosnia
>>
>>9773607
ah I see I'm well known, but no, that comment wasn't mine.
I, too, still want to COMPLETELY destroy his boyish pussy.
>>
>>9773600
How many of them have you read so far?
>>
>>9773550
that's idiotic. You're judging a poet on his most well known work -- when he still was developing his style. Why don't you faggots ever discuss his lesser known poems in prose (ie Barbarian, Genius, Childhood) or his monumental Une saison en enfer?
It's always La bateau ivre or Ophelie or Voyelles. That's how I know you haven't read past middle school.
idiot
>>
>>9773611
why do people use this term

just call it an asshole lad
>>

You don't destroy a boypussy, you treat it sensually you tease it and lick at it. You dumb brute.

His pink ring breathes and you look in the abyss.
He's hesitant for a second, but it all disappears.

>>
>>9774020
>Paul, I can't stand it in Aden anymore; the hot sun drains my energies and powers. My fragile and sickly, pale skin is turning now red now brown.
>Paul, I miss the pale sun in Brussels. I miss the rouge blood dripping on my skin. At least that was red, not like my now pinkly skin.
>I send you a poem, Paul, unpublished and written when we still were happy.
>I have forgiven you, Paul. Have you forgiven me?
>Remember me. Remember the name Jean Nicola Arthur Rimbaud.
>>
>>9772854
Which of his poems would you recommend?

I've only read "Royalty," translated by John Ashbery, and, I must say, I was not impressed.
