Maybe start with Ivan Ilyich. Its hard to keep a good schedule with w&p and karenina. You'll probably finish it much later than you planned because its so long and you'll interest may bounce around.
But depends on what kind of reader you are I guess.
AK is not as hard, it's just long. Make a character list or map (if that kind of thing helps you) and have at it.

neither, the guy was a slave rapist.
Ivan Ilyich, W&P then Anna Karenina. Don't read Resurrection or A Confession until you read 1-2 of these; late Tolstoy is quite different in his world views.
Tolstoy was a mediocre writer and an egotistical crackpot fraud

T. American pleb.
War and Peace and Anna Karenina isn't "the deep end", it's literally introductory world lit material.
They're just fucking books. Read them or don't.
DO I FLIP THE PAGE WHEN I REACH THE BOTTOM?
DO I START AT THE BEGINNING AND END AT THE END?
HOW DO I USE MY HANDS?
WHICH EYE DO I USE?

War and Peace and Anna Karenina are just long soap operas.

he famously forced his wife to bear children, and to breastfeed them to the point that her mastitis was so painful, that her fucking father had to step in and plead with tolstoy. guy also often resorted to droit de seigneur with his own serfs.
