Not OP but not a big fan of materialism either. I had one year when I didn't have to look at the prices. Nothing overly crazy but basically middle class standards. Coming from a poor family and having one meal per day, it was quite a big deal for me.

Shit was fun at start with couple trips around the world (too bad I skipped Murica), drugs, shopping trips for me and my friends and generally being able to surprise/help people in a time efficient way. Just it wasn't worth having to work 60h+ for a company I couldn't care less about, and waking up at times I don't want to. Enjoying NEETdom for 2 years now and while I do miss the freedom money offered, it's balanced out by the freedom to live for myself. Wouldn't want to work for someone else again at any cost.
