italian fag here. I'm in love with litterature and after studying italian litterature at the Normale of Pisa i started work as a programmer, because i don't want to hate litterature cuz is my boring work.
have you ever read the commedy in italian?
it made me cry many times, i wonder how it feels like to read it in others languages.
cutting dante from the ranking for obvious reasons... my best in slot is Ariosto. if u haven't read it yet, do it: "L'orlando furioso".

No, of course they haven't. No one knows Italian on this board and Dante's Italian would be too difficult for them. They feel satisfied and smart with a trashy English translation in prose.

Are you assuming everyone here should know medieval Italian or what is your point? Have you read Faust in German? The Iliad in ancient Greek?

Noone knows Ariosto well you are missing a very crucial reading
