Death on the Ice by Cassie Brown
or...
Left to Die by Gary Collins
Both are about the Disaster of the S.S. Newfoundland in either 1912 or 1914 during a seal hunt. I think it was 1914 during the spring shortly before WWI. I read Left to Die and plan to read Death on the Ice sometime. Death on the Ice was written I think in the 50s or 60s if memory serves. Left to Die is more recent, written for the 100th anniversary in 2014 or so.

I don't know since I never read past Speaker of the Dead but Ender's Game and Speaker of the Dead are definitely quality novels that genuinely count as literature. I recommend reading those two at least, then you can stop like I did.
So not artistically obviously but with similar meaning or theme.
Everyone post in the new thread now.
