Well, it does kinda matter how old you are. The older you get, the more you start to stagnate. If you don't start putting in serious effort now, you're most probably not gonna make it. I've met and seen so many middle-aged "writers" who have still written barely anything, yet continue to say that they're going to publish the next great novel.
