Is it worth to read translated poetry? I'd like to hear first hand experiences.

If you read poems - no
If you read epics or drama, there are sometimes some okayish interpretations/translations
It depends, I know that Poe was translated in french by Baudelaire who is also a poet, I think his translation can give an other look on Poe's work. Maybe you should try to read both version of a poem if you're good enough with the language.
It is worth reading several different translations of the same poetry.
Only by good translators
It can be if the translator himself is a capable poet.

Yes but make sure to:
>find a competent translator who would do the work justice
>read multiple translations
>if you can listen to an audio recording of the poem do so
>look at the original work and see what you can deduce even if you don't speak the language (congnates, rhyme endings, structure, alliteration, etc)
