Does anyone have any recommendations for interesting books set in Mexico?
I'm looking for novels, historical fiction, or cultural narratives which are entertaining and well-written.
For instance, I recently read 'The Lowland' by Jhumpa Lahiri, which touched on the Naxal movement in the Indian state of West Bengal. That prompted me to do a bit of research on the topic and opened some doors to other areas of interest. I'm looking forward to returning to India in another few months to hopefully attend some educational conferences and speak to some informed folks.
I'll be in Mexico for a month starting Monday and would like to learn more about the country I'll be in while being provided some context for further educational exploration.
Don't speak Spanish, by the way.
