The unfortuante thing about compassion, pacifism, and socialism
Many things considered humanistic has one big vulnerability.
They only work if everyone does it.
If they dont we still have pain and suffering we bring crashing down on ourselves.
Rationality, you dont need to depend on another person for, presumably.

As an ideal they are truly the highest in that they are the hardest to attain.
Which either makes people thing they must be valuable or not even realistic in a persuit.

if you depend on compassion you are a leech and automatically deserve to be judged with reason, not compassion. your argument against compassion doesn't work because it makes a false assumption about compassion. compassion works because it's beneficiant, despite pain and suffering. It doesn't surprise me that someone who thinks of compassion as such would have a difficulty to attain it. it is in our nature, and therefor easy to do. if it's not in your nature it's an indication you have a defective morality and more susceptible and receptive to bring about pain and suffering. but it can't be taught, so the compassionate thing to do is not judge those who mean well. on the other hand, compassion can become pathological with self defeat as a result, such as forgiveness, making excuses, etc etc. another extreme of what happens with a defective morality, the feminine side perhaps. Those two extremes combined and you have a typical modern marriage of codependency. Compassion is more valuable than reason, but when it becomes unreasonable, is it still really compassion?
