Shakespeare is Early Modern. It's not super difficult, but difficult nonetheless.

Read annotated Shakespeare, Marlowe, Milton, Browne and Burton.
It's pretty close to the English we use, so it should be easy to pick up. You probably won't need a text book to study it.
I read Burton then Shakespeare then Spenser then Malory then Chaucer.
In this way I worked my way backwards in English and taught myself early middle English by small changes from modern English and middle English by way of small changes from early middle English.
