there hasn't been a bolano thread in awhile, what's up? are we purposefully avoiding talking about him so the system doesn't make him normal?
I'm reading 2666 right now, and quite enjoying it. I'll probably look at By Night in Chile next, though if people have other recommendations, I'd love to hear them.
>novels by and for art school cranks

I'm always kinda baffled how he also LOOKED like El Chavo

The Savage Detectives of course. Nazi Literature in the Americas/ Distant star are also great. His short stories are excellent, especially his first collection.

But is fun to read how dumb those cranks are
Thats kinda the point of savage detectives
I recently bought a posthumous work of his. It'll be the next one, for some reason I like to read the earlier and not as great books before I go into the better ones.

BNIC is gorgeous. Nearly did my thesis on it. Read it at a really good time when I was thinking through Neruda and had just taken a class on the Reformation. One of the few short books that has that much aesthetic vitality.

same fag here. I have always felt guilty about how quickly I read through his stuff. Highly recommend really taking your time through this or any of his short stories. He is a veritable mine of treasures on a sentence by sentence level.
