What 12 books should a British person read if he is a very paranoid British person who worries that other people will call him a pleb? He just wants this paranoia to fucking end. He sees literature as entertainment but is tormented by pseudo intellectuals whether he goes and he cannot remain an honest man of taste. My friend has a geography phd- he is not well read at all but can draw a near-perfect world map from memory. How well could you do it? It would make you look stupid if you forgot the Korean peninsula, or got the scale wrong.
His sister is a chemist- do you know the entire periodic table? It would be embarrassing if you couldn't name at least 60 elements, right?
