Just like Lord of the Rings, this book highlights the dirt-old themes of Good vs Evil, with the antagonist serving Satan in his crusade against Christ and God by opposing the protagonist. The protagonist is comparable to Aragorn while the antagonist is but a faint resemblance of Morgoth.

desu the Good vs. Evil themes in this book are like the worst part. The Stand is better than most Stephen King but it's just fun to read the post-apocalyptic scenes

Randall Flagg lets loose a plague that kills most of humanity. The first half of the book is the aftermath and how humanity survives. Then the other half is where an old black lady who has some connection to God assembles a community to fight back Flagg. Then King realized he can't do good endings, so he nukes most of the characters.

It doesn't mean shit, it's a jumble of b material that a cokehead took 10 years to compile into a poorly thought out product
