Are there any books written from the perspective of an inanimate object? I'm going to write a story about a life of a boulder, and I want to know how original of a donut I'm being.
>no sensing abilities to explore the outer world
>no cognitive capabilites for introspection
Autism aside, IMHO the story about the experiences of a 3.5 billion year old boulder has great potential.
>i am boulder
>moss growing on my side
>fuck off you moss faggot
>oh look the dinosaurs are extinct
>but I, I am still the same...
>this rocks

Italo Calvino's Cosmicomics have a variety of stories about plankton, planets and other objects you wouldn't generally consider subjects.
Ivo Andrić - Na Drini Ćuprija. Translated as "The Bridge on the Drina". It spans a ~400 year period and records the 'life' of the bridge built by Mehmed Paša Sokolović. The only main character is the bridge itself and the story revolves around the people living in the nearby village. Ivo Andrić got the Nobel prize in literature for this work, but I don't really see the point of people reading this without knowing the basic history of Serbia and Bosnia in this period, or at least being interested in it.

lol
There's a chapter dedicated to the life story and perspective of a lightbulb in Gravity's Rainbow.
Try again.
desu this story has much potential if written about an observational boulder towards people inadvertently interacting with it. Like two lovers kiss for the first time while sitting on the boulder (or even next base idk XD).
Reminds me of the movie Rubber except without the sci fi spin.

It's an animate lightbulb though, isn't it?
