True patricians write their prose to sound, not textual making

I've noticed philosophy professors are especially guilty of this. I've heard qua and cogito pronounced more ways than I'd initially thought possible.
I've been reading long enough that if I actually come across a word I don't know, then it's likely that:
>the author is just using it to show off what an erudite scholar he is and I will never see the word again
>I would look autistic as fuck if I actually used it in a real conversation
So, not only do I not bother looking up the phonetics, I go so far as to derive the meaning from the context and then forget about it.

Wouldn't a truly true patrician neglect neither one of these over the other?
