What are some of /lit/'s pet peeves about books?

A big one that triggers my autismo is when the author's name is larger than the book's title on the cover.

Dedications and thanks at the beginning that aren't real. I get i if it's nonfiction and they're thanking collaborators and institutions that allowed them to do their work. But "To my beloved wife, [x]" triggers me.
>>

James Patterson seems to release a new book each week with another author. What's that all about? Dude must be raking it in.
>>
>>9550918
It's shit like this that makes me hate social media.

Also when you're mid-way in conversation with someone and the other person checks their phone for texts or notifications on facebook. When did that become socially acceptable? Always felt rude to me to do that in a conversation with someone else.

i dont know, its certainly retarded society socially. social media fags are just carrying ariund safety blankets and sucking their thumbs, a cellphone in hand all the time is little more than Linus carrying ariund his blanket. my favorite are those adults 40+ who engage with phones and s.m. this way, its pathetic. life is not happening on your phone.
>>
>>9550980
He comes up with the basic idea and then somebody else writes it if I remember correctly.
>>
>>9551106
If that's true it's a bit shitty his name gets top-billing for that.
>>9551093
Agreed. If you were so switched on socially, you wouldn't rely on social media while already outside and socialising. Social media really should be for when you're not engaged with somebody else socially. It really does make my piss boil, anon.

I was carrying a couple of books in my bag when a gypsy woman stole it. The cops tracked her down and returned most of my things, the book included. Except she had torn a single page from the end notes, crumpled it, and put it back.

Now my autism can't get past that and l'll probably donate it to the library or something.
>>
>>9551348
I would do the same thing and just buy a new copy of the book. Why the hell would anyone tear a single page out and then return it? Some people are crazy.

Yeah, the only thing holding me back is the fact that l'm a third-world Europoor. I'd rather spend that money on another book, but l'm conflicted about what to do with this one.

Damn gypsy, why would you do this?

This anon is so socially retarded that he doesn't realise how rude it is during a conversation to flick up his phone to see if he has any notifications. Do you not see an irony in trying so hard to keep up-to-date with social interactions online that you fail to connect with people socially IRL?

happens too often, but the silver lining is that if that book is really shit i'll drop it and pick up the book it was quoting instead

What books me more is that usually Vintage book covers look like crap, and I don't understand why they have such a focus on red. Red spines, red is central in their book covers, etc. The only Vintage book covers I really like are the Mishima ones and the LGBTQIA+ rockets for Gravity's Rainbow.

You are aware that that is unnecessary, right?
We don't need a moderator between God and mankind since God wants to have a personal relationship with us.

>>9555541
It's really just an issue for Catholics. He's very progressive, saying shit like gays can go to heaven and changing a lot of the more rigid traditions of the church for something lighter on the soul. It's like the leggings of Catholicism.
