>One reviewer, Percy Hammond of the Herald Tribune, was negative about the entire cast, accusing the actors of being inaudible and timid.
>In response, one of the African drummers created a voodoo doll of Hammond, stuck pins in it, and encouraged Welles to take responsibility for any torments Hammond suffered as a result.
>Welles says he found this amusing, until Hammond died shortly afterward.

Macbeth as a play functions to legitimize the claim of King James to the throne of England and Scotland by linking him to Duncan. While also giving a warning to any would be regicides about what would happen to them if they tried to killl king James. He was an extremely unpopular choice for the throne.
I'm not going to help you with your homework, OP, but thank you for starting a thread about Macbeth.

What would make you think that? And who cares if Macduff loves dick?
Has anyone seen the recent Fassbender Macbeth? What did you think? I thought everything was well-done and effectively haunting, except for Fassbender's performance. I think he gave Macbeth too much of a mumbling, brooding American-actor treatment.
