There's a lot of discussion on here about fiction, but I'm curious if you guys have a favorite non-fiction book or recommendation? What do you think the different take-aways are from reading non-fiction vs fiction?

I'd be very interested in this if they weren't all shit.

I'd really love some architecture recs that aren't on that chart that's spammed here. Sorry, I can't find the image.

U r a cheeky cunt

Are these good?
I realize I mostly read nonfiction anyway, essays and philosophy and research.
But that doesn't seem appropriate for this kind of thread, it seems you're asking for something more specific?

Has anyone read OP's pic? I've been considering reading it but maths has never been my strong suit, will this be fairly straightforward and comprehensible?
Usually when a nonfiction book has a very snappy title and looks like a bestseller self-help book it's not worth your time.

average writing, condescending tone, annoying unfunny "dialogues", a lot of stale trivia that everybody is already familiar with nowadays (if he's a healthy male and has a natural STEM-affinity).
overall not a good book and it hasnt aged well.
lots of philosophy talk on here. i like travel literature and think it's great. also pic related.

Any recs for something better, math related?

quantum computing since democritus by (((aaronson)))
everything by penrose

Even if you don't get math, this book is really good at breaking down complex issues. I really recommend it

They do that with everything. Publisher's gotta sell copies and make that $$$
Just take a few minutes to check if the author is a real professional with relevant credentials and/or that the book is based on actual research and citations. Just reading the intro and skimming around the book can let you easily know if it's BS or not.

Will you elucidate this comment a bit?
