Do you keep a diary or journal /lit/? Not intended to be published, but just for your personal thoughts.
Yes I do.
What does one use a diary for?

No, but I have this fiction piece that I update about once a day. It's just a story that I've been writing since I was in middle school. It's autistic as fuck, and reflective in some minor way to my general mood of ongoing events.

Self examination mostly. I can write things down I can't really speak aloud. It's just nice to get things out of your head.
I keep scraps of paper that I would find during cases of "Surprise, inspiration!" when I was behind bars. Great ideas that creep up on me are almost as prone to evaporate as dreams, so I gotta' write it down.
I keep them around like personal relics for if it happens that I ever get my work published I will look at them as the prototype.
i did for about a year and a half but it very quickly became indulgent self loathing that made my situation worse
now i collect notes of various thoughts i have throughout the day but the longform diary thing was too much self obsession for me
I do but I don't know what to write in it. I only have one entry and it's almost a year old.

>havin a daily entry-based diary
>not having a aphorism based diary, with each aphorism having a emblematic, easily recognizable title
It looks like you guys are not really interested in re-reading it eventually.

I want to start a bullet journal to try and keep myself organized. I likethe simplicity and software solutions haven't worked for me so a physical book might be different.
Also, are there cheaper alternatives to Moleskine? Moleskine notebooks are fucking expensive especially since I'd need one of the bigger ones.

I have been writing a journal since 2012.
I started to write one day because I had no one to talk to, and somehow kept up with it. Since I had no plans to write a journal, I just poured what I thought in a text file in the computer. It got lost eventually, and I am glad because of some things I said. I started another file early in 2014, and I still have it. Sometimes I wonder if I should buy a journal and transcribe everything (which is not a lot since I don't write often).
I think I would go to one of those leuchtturm1917.
