after getting out of depression, ive finally found the inspiration to start writing again, but now that i've started writing and i have a setting with characters that i like and feel like i can develop a lot, i'm having trouble coming up with a cohesive plot.
what i have currently is that the uncle of an orphaned nephew leaves the village with his friend to see his old friend who's a researcher looking into lichdom/immortality, while the nephew meets a child who shouts about how she's a wizard and is extremely powerful (wizards, and magic in general are extremely rare and mostly thought to be nonexistent besides within elves).
the uncle has nightmares of a lovecraftian creature deep beneath the planet's surface, as well, and is very slowly being driven insane by it. the creature isn't a villain, but rather just this organism that's fallen asleep thousands of years ago and subtly influences the world with its small shifts and breathing.
i can't think of any sort of plot to go off of which would somehow connect all of the dots, which is why i'm here. does anyone have any ideas? i'm open to critiques, as well (though there isn't much to critique yet lol)

should add that the child is, indeed, a wizard, and that the guy trying to become immortal is generally hated for what he's doing, and he got kicked out of where he was previously for it (which is why he only just now invited his friend, the uncle, to visit him)

Lol I completely lost motivation to write while I was depressed, and i'm not on meds right now, so that's a negative on all accounts

not OP but maybe this is the case for some people but it isnt the case for me. i havent been able to write in 5 years because of it, and i can barely stomach to read anything

I have no clue. Most I've written is 70 pages... And that took me a year. Since then I've been at a stand still. Good luck.

You weren't depressed to begin with. There is no such thing as getting out of depression, you can only cope with it.
