Was it unreasonable for me to expect to read the greatest works of all time as an English major? Am I just a fuckup for not reading these things before becoming an English major?

I don't see the problem. You'll want these kinds of classes to supplement narrower topics later.

I did the same thing. It killed my love of literature for a short while. It took me nearly 3 years after graduating to rediscover my love for it.

Sounds like you go to a shit uni m8. I read 2-3 novels a week during my undergrad.
