So, i have this issue, i read a lot of the stuff recommended on here, and i almost always read the English translations. But my native language is Dutch and i notice that when i have to speak Dutch i throw in English words non/stop, and its getting to the point now that i cant express myselve in Dutch anymore without sounding like a retard. Should I just start reading Dutch translations of foreign books?? I rather not since a lot of originally English proze will sound dumb... And does anyone else have this problem.

I read English, German and Dutch writers in their original language. For most other languages I read a Dutch translation unless I happen to know an English translation that is much better.
Vroeger las ik ook alleen maar Engelse vertalingen, waardoor ik tegen hetzelfde probleem als jij aanliep. Ik raad je aan om toch meer Nederlands te lezen. Er zijn vaak echt wel goede vertalingen beschikbaar.
Overigens irriteer ik me er nogal aan als een Nederlander te vaak Engels in de omgangstaal gebruikt. Vooral van die extreem anglofiele stundentes kan ik gek worden.

Same, I read Dutch, English and German books in their original language.
For other stuff I usually pick up the English translation though, as it's usually much cheaper than the Dutch version
