What the fuck do people mean by "worldbuilding"
It seems like a cheap but semi-positive way to say "it dragged on forever and was super boring and overly descriptive" when a person is trying to pretend to like a book
They mean "I'm scared or unable to actually write an engaging story, so I make up a world in my mind that's interesting to nobody but myself."

It's good if your worldbuilding helps reinforce your greater themes (LOTR, Dune), but yea how its practiced today is mostly autism.
What are some books with actual good world building?

It's important.
>Extensive and annoying descriptions of every single detail
boring unless necessary
>Poetically interwoven words that dance with the readers and create pictures and emotions in their minds that emphasize the author's theme.
Correct.

A few more are scattered around but LOTR and Dune are the gold standard.
