Is this book good? I've never read it. How is the Mirra Ginsburg translation?
These "is X good" and "what do you think of X" threads are even worse than the troll threads, in terms of keeping the board healthy and active.
OP MUST bring something to the table. This sheer laziness will not do.

I asked what a good translation of the book would be.

burgin o'connor
but you're not actually gonna read this book because it's easier to shitpost instead
prove me wrong i dare you
>>9452223
Why this translation? I don't know what you're even talking about. I haven't shit posted once in this thread.
How badly censored was the ginsburg translation by the soviet government?
Apparently there's a P&V translation as well. I wonder what that's like.

>its the most faithful one in terms of conveying the original tone of the book
Ordered. Better cancel or if not return that folio society edition I ordered. It has the Ginsburg translation. How silly to release a luxury copy of the book and then not have a premier translation. It's an absolute fabulous looking book though, that folio edition. I won't sacrifice literary quality for looks though.

Or, I shouldn't say premier; complete. It's not even a complete edition, and it's a luxury copy. That's just wrong.

folio society often has books with "subpar" translations because they cant get the rights to a better one
Seconding burgin o'connor translation. Bought it for the classy cover and turned out to be the best one.
Yikes. That would be great if they would cancel the folio society order before it ships.
