Just by a neon-purple dragon dildo and put it on a shelf. People will recognize you for a man of refined tastes just as well.

Only if you've read Finnegans Wake, or Ulysses or Gravity's Rainbow at least. Not because of some "next level" bullshit, but because you need to know you can actually enjoy a nice big difficult book. If it's just gonna sit on your shelf for pseud points then don't bother.

How does it hold up against those other difficult tomes? Those are the kinds of books I like most, but I'm on the fence about getting this one.

It's really only comparable to FW, which I love, but it's much wonkier. People will tell you to read Poe before this. Ulysses and GR will do almost nothing to ease you into ZT.
I'd check out Nobodaddy's Children before this if you're on the edge. But I don't know if that's even good prep.

Pretend for a moment that I'm a semi-competant reader, and enjoy more than anything reading something difficult, will I have fun with this?
>>9426857
Probably. Schmidt certainly seemed to have a lot of fun writing it.
>>9426857
yes;
you dont need to read the whole thing (schmidt himself advocates just flipping through and reading select chapters); it looks more difficult than FW, and will be, for about 20 pages, after which once you sort of figure out what's going on and get acclimated to it it's obvious it's more superficial than FW
it's a fun book.

Thanks anon. I was worried about spending the money on a meme, but the excerpts I've read were impressive.
Why does this book cost $300?
>>9426835
I've read all of those - just not sure about the cost and also my German's not 100%, although I'll def read it in the German when I read it.
