Everything you know about Indian literature
>Indian literature was at it's height during the mughal empire in 1700 AD then Great Britain came and forced it's domination over India, they chopped down the trees to boost the economy so the shitskins had nothing to wipe their anuses with, so in desperation they ripped pages out of books thousands of years old, and now we know very little of indian literature and what we do know is from second hand accounts.
There, I've written half your introduction for you.

Hindu Lit?
If mythology will work, you can try and find a free online text for the Bhagavad-Gita, its fairly short and an important work, but its strictly mythic.

Rupi Kaur is a good place to start

How exactly does that work? How do they expect you to write a report on Hindu literature if you don't even know Sanskrit and Hindi? It's like if I had to write a book on Shakespeare without knowing any English.

Hindu texts are broadly classified into two - Shruti(that which is heard) and Smriti(that which is remembered). Vedas and Upanishads are Shruti while the rest are Smriti.
Vedas - The most important scripture of Hinduism. Mainly in the form of poetic hymns addressing God in one way or the other. They're also the oldest Hindu scriptures, and are of great interest for scholars interested in Indo-European culture
Upanishads - The philosophical texts of the Hindus. The Upanishads are the central base of Hindu philosophy. Every single traditional Indian philosopher takes his ideas from the Upanishads and builds upon it. Scholars have agreed that the Buddha himself has been inspired by the Upanishads.
Puranas - Scriptures that deal mainly with mythology. Most Indian mythology is based off the Puranas, and your average Hindu is more acquainted with the Puranas than the Vedas or Upanishads.
Itihas - The epics of India, which are the Mahabharata and Ramayana. The Hindu equivalent to the Iliad and Odyssey
Bhagavad Gita - The most popular Hindu text in the world. It is part of the Mahabharata and is a major philosophical text.
Shastras - A treatise on a specific field of knowledge. These texts cover a wide range of topics like politics, biology, physics, dance, poetry, architecture, mathematics, zoology etc.
