I had the same problem. Personally I cam to realize that I typically only have problems concentrating on reading if there has been overstimulation earlier in the day. Reading first thing in the day, or after a day spent outdoors was easy, had none of the prior problems. Try it and see if it works. I dunno if meditating before reading will make up for hours of multi-tasking a mental stress/over stimulation.

Do a spiritual LSD trip. Have a trip sitter guide you though in case you loose trak. Try and reevaluate your life, past and future.
You will be a changed perso and only for the better really. But convince yourself, don't let anyone pressure you into this.
LSD is an incredible drug.
