Is Twain's adult stuff worth reading? I'm really not a fan of Huckleberry and Sawyer, even when I was a child.

I like a lot of Twain's stuff, but I actually think his most serious book was his best.
Joan d'Arc, written near the end of his life after 10 years of research. It was after his wife died,
(possibly his daughter too?) and he wrote with a certain solemnity that his earlier works lack.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is the original sci Fi/fantasy dystopian thriller that presaged the dangers of industrial warfare 50 yrs ahead of its time and Pudd'n Head Wilson takes on the argument that would come to define the debate of eugenics. For a 19th century writer I doubt you'll find someone as smart and relevant to today. I also didn't like tom Sawyer or Huck Finn. Those were just bill payers I think.
