hey /lit/ are there books that you would recommend for studying psychology? If not is okay I guess
Are you ok with pop-science? What interests you? Cognitive biases, politics, personality, intelligence, creativity?

I guess? intelligence, creativity, and personality yep

In that case you could look at Scott Barry Kaufman. He has written a handbook on intelligence with several other authors and two popular science books.
You could look at google scholar as well.
I am going to take a look at my goodreads to see if I have more book ideas. I know that I have at least another book on creativity but forgot the name and I haven't read that one yet.
I would suggest Steven Pinker's "How the mind works" for general psychology. The book I talked about here >>9371545 is called "Wisdom, Intelligence, and Creativity Synthesized".
If you have interest in biological stuff like how testosterone, dopamine and so on works I know some books as well. Same with religion and mental illness.
Scott Barry Kaufman has a blog as well which points to research you could read yourself.

I'm gonna go for The Cambridge Handbook of Intelligence hopefully it will be a comprehensive read not some success story put into writing
>>9371574
I know this is dumb but have you read scott's book? What should I expect from it
>>9371588
Not dumb at all.
I read both his books wired to create and ungifted. He cites interesting research in the latter but I am not sure if I follow his conclusion.
Wired to create had a bit too much name dropping of famous creative people.

>not some success story put into writing
Ungifted was like this so you might avoid it. He does cite plenty of research but uses his own story of learning disability to scientist in it.
I suppose you could skim those parts look for the research parts and look up those papers he cites.

The usuals : Freud, Jung, Klein, Pontalis etc. You can read the behaviorists if you want a good laugh. On the theory of creativity, i recommend Castoriadis's audacious "The imaginary institution of society", which is a mix of philosophy and psychoanalysis.
