POLITICAL THRILLERS
I would like to get into political thrillers but have no idea where to start.
I heard good things about Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy but maybe it's too complicated for a beginner?
What about Tom Clancy?
Are there any titles you would recommend?
Pic related: I wouldn't mind something similar to the Metal Gear series.
The Karla trilogy is really good, read it.
You need a little bit of memory and attention, and to know that Czechoslovakia was part of the Soviet Bloc.
Would Robert Harris' trilogy about Cicero be considered pleb here?

Maybe a little, but they're very well researched (only for Harris to trample all over fact at times) and fun to read.
Is there a novel to surpass Metal Gear?

I haven't read Tom Clancy in years but I used to love his work. What you want is The Bear and the Dragon.
Stay away from Rainbow Six.

Why? Give a good reason because that is the only non-shit work from Clancy.

Because I wanted to help OP get what he wants.

Yeah, that is valid I guess.

If you enjoy reading someone describe a gun for 3 pages then by all means Power Rangers IRL is the way to go.
The last book I read by Clancy was fucking absurd but I must admit I did enjoy it. Can't remember the title but the part with the commando main character not showering for weeks and digging through trash so he could hunt down criminals disguised as a homeless man in Baltimore made me laugh my ass off. Plausible but insane.
MGS1>MGS2 in terms of literary merit. Less is more Hideo
