Could anybody recommend to me a good physical collection of Whitman's poems? It can be paperback or hardcover. I know, I can just find them online, but I'd like to own a physical copy of his best stuff.
I own this edition, and I really like it. The introduction by Cowley is brief but insightful; he considers the value of the 1855 edition and its place in the rest of Whitman's production, while also giving an account of Whitman's change as a poet and personality as his fame grew.

Alternatively, you can get this one and get more poems and prose. It even includes some of the 1855 edition's poems. I haven't read it so I can't comment on it.
i saw you post this in the wrong thread and i dont have anything to contribute but i just want everyone in this thread to know you fucked up

Thanks man, I'll take a look at that one. I'm planning on going camping soon and I'd like to have some Whitman and Frost on me.

I accept the shame of my mistakes friendo, if I wasn't so enlightened then I wouldn't be posting about Whitman.
I have a Signet Leaves of Grass, and it's fine. For those occasions when I want to gaze on the five or so poems I just can't get enough of-- for instance The Sleepers, this past 4th of July.

Does it have Song of the Open Road?

Song of the Open Road? I'm sure that it does but am not now in a position to check.... The copy I own is the white-covered Signet paperback Leaves with a portrait of middle-aged Walt on the cover. Actually, I know that it does, but still...

That's the one poem I absolutely have to have in there. It's one of the poems that sort of jump-started my life a little while ago, I just need a physical copy of it along with some of his other stuff.

Walt Whitman: Poetry and Prose published by Library of America. Hardcover will all of his poetry and prose. $27. Looks nice without being gaudy at all. LoA is a nonprofit, if you're into that sort of thing.

Yes, the Signet edition includes it. The great thing about this edition is that you can shove it in your pocket for use when out of doors. If (you) get it from ABE, get the oldest edition available-- Signet Classics are sturdier the further back in time the print date. Walt Whitman: Leaves of Grass-- 432pp.
i don't get whitman
