Why would you ever listen to audiobooks in any situation other than driving and sports? Are you illiterate?

Not OP, but I'll venture an answer...
1) Audiobooks let you get into the text in a different way
2) They are cozy
3) They can activate a certain ancient "storyteller by a campfire" mood that is very immersive
4) I tend to read very rapidly. The slower pace of a book read aloud helps me to focus more deeply on each aspect of the text.

This. I don't listen to audiobooks but I only listen to podcasts in my car or in the gym when I'm not in the mood for music. I can't imagine dropping all distractions so that I can listen to an audiobook when I can just... read.

I've never listened to an audio book, but can't imagine any real benefit. Perhaps if it's a really dry subject but in any case I'd rather watch a documentary on that. Plus it presumably takes far longer to listen to an audio book than to read one.

For the sake of the thread, if I had to download something it would be with the Dune or Forever War series, as I've intended to read each for a while, but sci-fi always sits at the end of my to do list. The same goes for sci-fi films.

A question from me: what's the best book to read on a sunny day on the beach?

I like short horror stories on audiobook for car rides. It's really not quite the same as reading it though...

audiobooks are repulsive by nature, But I think theyre a dirty secret for a lot of people
