I know this is technically a book question, but you're asking the wrong board. I don't go to either but try /diy/ or /out/ (or hell, that's essentially a bunker, so even maybe /k/?). They seem like they would be better suited.

OP, I used to browse /out/ years ago and info like that was a fairly common topic. I recall that radon detectors are key since it'll push out all the breathable air, or something. lurk around their catalog for the homesteading info
