Any thought-provoking or well written dystopian books?
Especially interested in anything ambiguous or unconventional.
Thank.
The Road is unconventional, but I didn't think it was great. It's also a movie.

Nope.
I had a professor who would say that much of Gogol's work was a dystopian vision for 19th century Russians, and that there's a firm undercurrent of godless horror beneath all the absurdity. I've always liked that interpretation.

Too bad, there's an Italian dystopian novel I read some time ago which is about sex. It hasn't been translated though.

The Road is boring, drab and dismal.
The imagery is also bad.
Metro 2033 is alright.
Brave New World, or is that too obvious?

The Forever War is a good one.

Not really, since dystopias are usually just a vehicle for the author to strawman and demonize an ideological bogeyman.
