Bloom is a hack. I've you've read any of his work you'd find he relies solely on archetypes and aesthetics, his writing is hardly coherent and, when it does make sense, goes nowhere.

Mostly because it must have been a hellish thing to capture, quite an emotional toll. No wonder he off'd himself, I would've too if I set out to make an accurate emotional representation in a work of epic fiction of the vapidness of modernity and then actually took the time to write the thing.
