I know /lit/ hates John Green's prose, but is there anything wrong with the actual contents of his stories? Why does every teen girl love him?

bc he writes emotionally and teenage girls are emotional beings
Because its vapid trash that women can comprehend.

because cereal taste better with dick cheese

I think its a combination of comprehension and content.
Green writes things that are simultaneously simple and easy to understand, as well as containing elements that his target audience will enjoy.
Basically he's serving a dish that's very appealing to young girls. Emotional, simplistic, stories. Its a formula.
As for the content of his stories, they are what you'd expect from something described as emotional and simplistic. Highly derivative and boring, but mixing the correct elements to attract his demographic. He is like all YA writers and most popular writers. No real substance or innovation, just formula.
Its to be expected.

It's not wrong, it's just bad.

By hating Green so intensily, /lit/ tends to admit it has read him. Because, can you analyze an author so deeply as to hate them so intensily, without reading more than a few pages? Either /lit/ secretly reads Green or /lit/ repeats words others have written about Green.

I'm tempted to read him ironically but I don't want to give this cuck more money. Maybe I'll buy it used and burn it afterwards. Save the world from one copy at least.

>Why does every teen girl love him?
Because pandering.

Can't you just pirate it? He's pretty popular.
