Why read a translation of a translation?

I read and loved the english versions of Sailor and Temple, would recommend

Well one reason is that if they're equally good the German version may have certain colloquialisms and nuances expressed that may be hard for one to pick up in a second language.
Its all very variable on the quality of the translation, nature of the work and your own proficiency in English
