I showed my mom this poem and she just kept saying "What?" Then she said it's just a guy saying a bunch of shit and that she doesn't get it. Is it just an age gap thing or is this poem just stupid?

i think both. I like how the poem appeals to these sort of generic nostalgias and feelings. I feel like only a certain generation of the youth really *get* this poem, but it's the persisting emotion behind the tropes that gives it more universal value.
