Wow, THIS part was hyped up for years? From what I'd been reading over the years i thought that section was some sort of 50 page story within a story work of genius that comes at a crucial moment in the book.
Literally nothing except some stupid half assed ramblings on god and psychology are happening. This is like a parody of what i expected.

I do agree with you OP. Dostoevsky is very overrated, there are dozens of russian author who surpass him on every level.
Dosto basically writes soap operas. Not even his prose is redeemable
I agree with you OP. Brothers Karamazov is a good book but not as good as lit want it to be. I enjoyed far more Crime and punishment.

the problem with tbk and most of dosto's work is that it's too simple, like most of the philosophical and psychological concepts are stuff i had already thought up myself
