Stirner was a minor figure associated with the Young Hegelians, whereas Focault was a major figure amoung the French 'post-modernists'.

Is that not to be expected?

My problem with Foucault's status is that he is so widely considered an -orthodox- Nietzschean, when he is far from being so, in my eyes, like most of the moderns, he selectively included N. where he liked, and ignored the most troubling aspects.

Nietzsche predicted that the first free-spirits would be whitewashed, and that would allow them to dominate in public philosophy. I think the passage is in Ecce or Beyond, but I've lost it :(
