I tried to, I got jobs but the fact that I had a degree seemed inconsequential. I'm a programmer now, but I went to community college for it after I finished uni. They don't give a fuck about my English degree.

Yes, I've made a career of using shady loans to keep getting useless English degrees ad infinitum. (It's not like you can do anything else with an English degree.)

Obviously people can do that, but for those jobs there's nothing special about having a literature degree.
