>read a Pynchon novel
>have absolutely no idea what is going on 90% of the time
>have read 4 of his books and it's the same thing every time
haha i love literature
You are unworthy
Seriously though the Egypt sequence in V is fucking confusing as hell
I unironically didn't think much of TCoL49.

Being confused and disoriented is part of the intentional effect. You CAN come to understand, but that's immediately important.

Read them again, you'll get more out of them. Or just stop wasting your time and read some Dickens.

preterite, I cast thee unelect from my sight
post some passages which puzzle you, I'll aid you if I can. I only know GR M&D and 49

Honestly I think Pynchon is overrated. Not trying to be Mr. Hot Opinions over here but every novel of his I read seems insubstantial and unsatisfactory. His books are like Saturday morning cartoons for smart people. Entertaining; harmless; meaningless. I can't believe there are people who seriously think he deserves to win the Nobel Prize.

It's not that great. He does everything he does there in a far more intense and interesting fashion in GR.

I can't relate to anybody who looks at books like V. or GR and goes 'Unsubstantial, meaningless, unsatisfactory". That's a sign, to me, of someone who is too far up their ass. Perhaps they're not literary formulas for some abstract, but what they are is enough and is apparently remarkable.

TCoL49 is pretty great on it's own imo. He does similar stuff on larger scales in other places but 49 benefits from its novella size a lot. It is very succinct.
