When I started reading As I Lay Dying, I thought Boy, that's pretty good prose, very enjoyable. I felt like the different POVs were adroitly done.

That was until I came past the first fifth of the book.

I stopped after the passage in the screenshot and now I doubt I'll ever touch another book by the man that is widely considered one of the most influential and skillful authors of recent times.
