how do i read and concentrate better, /lit/? it took me 2 days to finish a 200 pages book because i had to reread sentences 4 times to understand it.
i saw someone here saying that you can finish dorian gray in 2 hours, i dont think i can.
help me
Practice more. Some books are dense and hard to understand on-the-fly. Most aren't though.

i know for a fact u dont read very much when i read this
just read more and you will read faster
enjoy your reading but don't go so slow so as to be completely sluggish, i used to read at an obnoxiously slow natural pace. just step it up a little bit without completely compromising comprehension

Who cares how long it takes you to read a book nobody gives a shit just take your time

>2 days to finish a 200 pages book
I don't get the problem, that's completely normal
1) Read more.
2) Reclaim your attention span ie. quit TV/social media/memes/stop checking your phone every 2 minutes etc.
3) Do some meditation and other concentration excercises.
It's hard. Also, why read 100 pages a day? There's no reward for finishing as many books as possible in the shortest amount of time. Take your time, good writing and ideas need time to be appreciated.
You could do what David Lynch does an meditate daily, clears your mind up and helps you focus more. Doesn't even take that long to start seeing and feeling a difference, there are hundreds of apps that give free sessions.
You could also try small and reachable goals, say fifty or so pages. It sounds bad, but getting small releases of Dopamine can work wonders In getting used to things.

I agree with these anons, It really doesn't matter as long as you get the 'most out of the pages' Take your time but try to be as consistant as possible, try as I mentioned working towards small goals. You'll feel good about yourself when you reach them, then you'll slowly adjust your goals as you become more used to reading. Instead of fifty pages a day, it will be one hundred pages a day. Or read this entire two hundred page book in an entire day.

>reading 100 pages per day
I was proud that I read ten pages of Kant yesterday
Quality is more important than Quantity, become an attentive reader first, and then just practice and read more

I think you're full of shit and you can barely reach 50.

That's Kants fault not yours.

Somehow true. He wasn't a great prose writer.

read dense philosophy, something you can barely understand, and work through it as slowly as you need to understand it. it is like lifting for the brain
then read the bhagavad gita, just trust me.

can confirm this is an enlightening experience
